Track and Field

Summer Athletics for Seniors

OK now, drop those visions of long-legged, lithe athletes with rippling muscles. Our Track and Field events are enjoyed by average, every-day people, teens, mums, dads, grandparents and disabled.

We all have fun learning how to use the equipment and practicing with others of similar abilities. Our coaches are retired athletes, who have all the time in the world to patiently take us through the techniques.

Younger seniors like our teens that have worked their way up through junior athletics, are now specialising and getting extra coaching for those bigger events. We enjoy watching their achievements and giving them extra support. And this is where many parents join in too, after watching and learning from their childrens coaches.

Yes your shoes may fill with sand and mummy-bladder might need a loo-break before you jump. But with the different track and field events, you will enjoy something, and surprise yourself when you start getting good!

At the end of the season we record your best achievements at Club Champs Nights. You can then use those next year as a basis to work on for improvement.

You will be surprised how many Masters (over 35yrs) are only just starting to learn track and field. It is never too late to start!

Testimonials

“I enjoy watching my times improve, even though it’s slow, I know I am definitely getting fitter for me.”

Rachel Browne

“The best thing about being a Lake City runner is that I really enjoy my food again. I now fit the same clothes I wore 20 years ago!”

Kerris Browne

“I am a retired Marathon Runner but I still race walk almost every day. My biggest buzz is helping those who don’t think they can do it, and seeing the excitement on their faces when they realize they can.”

Colin Smyth
Plumber

“It’s fantastic that my [heavier built] daughter has finally found something she enjoys and doesn’t feel useless at. She’s doing great in discus and enjoys high jump.”
