Track and Field Programme 2016-2017

Now that we are moving into the summer months you can try something Trackdifferent – so come along to the club’s Wednesday evening track and field activities. These activities cater for Adults and Youths aged from 12 years plus.

The weekly programmes have been set up in a way that there are a variety of events each week. There are sprints (60m to 400m), middle distances (800m to 1,500m), and long distances (3,000m to 10,000m): All are designed to get the legs turning over quicker, whether you are a runner or walker. There’s throwing (shot put, discus and javelin) and jumping events (long and high jump) as well. Even if it’s something you’ve never tried, it’s not too late to have a go. And you can pick and choose which events you do or don’t do!

This summer the club has introduced a new fortnightly event onto the programme (the first is on 11 November). This is a 1 (one) mile challenge. By taking part each fortnight you can judge how your fitness levels are coming along, challenge a running or walking colleague, learn pace judgment, and increase your speed base; all while enjoying something different.

Like last year the Club is continuing its “Pay and Play” system for non-club members, with $2 to be paid for each evening in attendance. This allows people from other sporting codes to pop in on an evening when convenient to them. For paid up club members the evenings are free.

The great thing about track and field is that it doesn’t matter that there’s different abilities, everyone is working towards a common goal, and encouraging each other to achieve this.
